NSF Ecosystems Program: CAREER: Strategies for understanding the effect of
global climate and environmental change on northern peatlands, 2004-09. NASA
New Investigator Program in Earth Science, Mount Holyoke College, 1999-2003.
Conducted research on CO2 and CH4 gas exchange and plant community dynamics
in northern peatlands; feedbacks of northern ecosystems to climate change; supervised
undergraduate research; collaborated with scientists from McGill and Trent Universities,
and University of New Hampshire on field research at Canada Fluxnet site Mer
Bleue Bog, Ontario, and LTREB site Sallie’s Fen, New Hampshire.
U.S. Department of Energy Global Change Distinguished Postdoctoral Research
Associate, Institute for the Study of Earth, Oceans and Space, University of
New Hampshire, 1995-1998. Managed and conducted field and laboratory research
for the Boreal Ecosystem-Atmosphere Study (BOREAS), a U.S.- Canadian collaborative
study of boreal forest processes and interactions with the atmosphere; research
topics include wetland and upland plant ecology, carbon cycling, trace gas fluxes,
climate change, remote sensing, fire history, permafrost dynamics, and ecosystem

research on carbon cycling in boreal, subarctic, ecosystems; topics included
carbon dioxide and methane flux measurements; bryophyte and vascular plant distribution
