Meet the Faculty

Indira Peterson is known as a leading scholar of classical Sanskrit literature and Hinduism, and of Tamil literature and South Indian religion, performing arts, and cultural history.

"One of the best parts of my research is going to the British Library, pulling out an eighth-century manuscript written on cowhide, and realizing you are literally the first person to read it in 1,000 years," notes Michael Penn.

Don't know the difference between the Roman Empire and the Holy Roman Empire? See Fred McGinness.

Bettina Bergmann uses three-dimensional models of Roman villas to show how the fragments of frescoes in museums originally functioned in ancient Roman structures--that is, when she's not explaining how ancient coins were used for propaganda.
