Summer Opportunities
Mount Holyoke College (MHC) is committed to providing summer research opportunities. The WEED Research Scholar Program, Mount Holyoke Summer Research Fellowship Program (MHSRF), the MHC-Yale Summer Research Fellowship Program (MHC-Yale SURF), and the MHC-Yale Materials Research Surface Interface Center Undergraduate Fellowship Program (MHC-Yale MRSEC), are the 4 programs administered by the Academic Dean’s Office. The WEED program provides opportunities for ALANA students to consider careers in academia, by funding mentor supported summer research. The MHC-Yale SURF and the MHC-Yale MRSEC partnerships provide an opportunity for our students to do summer research at Yale University. As many MHC students are on financial aid, the MHSRF program financially supports summer research for this group.
Students apply for these summer opportunities and more through the Universal Application. It is important that you attend workshops or information sessions to inform you about specific programs and requirements. Through the Universal Application Form (UAF), the College will match your idea with one of our sources of funding. For sources of funding and eligibility requirements see Summer Fellowship Opportunities on the Career Development Web Site.
Please feel free to contact our office at 413-538-2855 if you have any specific questions about the WEED Fellowship, Mount Holyoke Summer Research Fellowship or the programs at Yale University.
Students who receive funding through the Academic Deans Office will participate in the LEAP Conference in September.
