Mount Holyoke students can earn a degree in engineerig in two different ways, either by earning a master's degree in engineering after graduation from Mount Holyoke or by earning a second bachelor's degree, through what is called a dual degree program.
Mount Holyoke offers three outstanding dual-degree engineering options with the University of Massachusetts College of Engineering, the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth, and the California Institute of Technology. All of the dual-degree programs require substantial course work in mathematics and science, and an interested student should include at least two such courses each semester in her first year. For this reason, we recommend that a student interested in engineering consult with an MHC engineering advisor as soon as possible, preferably in her first semester. The dual degree in engineering can be based on a variety of MHC majors, including a special major in applied science or a departmental major in chemistry, computer science, environmental studies, mathematics, or physics. See engineering to learn more about these programs.
