As dean of studies, I support and oversee the work of the academic deans. Working closely with the registrar I administer the academic regulations of the College set by the faculty.  I chair the Academic Administrative Board and the Committee on Fellowships.  Leah Glasser, dean of first-year studies, and I collaborate to maintain a strong program of faculty advising for students in their first year.  One of the most rewarding aspects of my work is assisting students in planning the direction of their academic careers at the College.  For example, I advise students on designing programs of study for special majors.  This year, Lois Brown, Director of the Weissman Center for Leadership, Angie Whitmal, dean of the classes of 2010 and 2012, and I will continue to facilitate the Independent Study Network, an informational and support program for seniors engaged in independent studies.
