As dean of studies, I support and oversee the work of the academic deans. Working closely with the registrar I administer the academic regulations of the College set by the faculty.  I chair the Academic Administrative Board and the Committee on Fellowships.  Leah Glasser, dean of first-year studies, and I collaborate to maintain a strong program of faculty advising for students in their first-year.  The most rewarding aspect of my work is assisting students in planning the direction of their academic careers at the College.  For example, I advise students on designing programs of study for special majors.  This year, Lois Brown, Director of the Weissman Center for Leadership, Dean Connie Allen, Lily Jampol '06, and I have initiated an informational and support program for seniors engaged in independent studies and writing honors theses.
