Academic Orientation Highlights

Making Connections: Navigating Your Academic Experience at Mount Holyoke, Monday, September 1

Moderated by Leah B. Glasser, Dean of First-Year Studies, this session focuses on building connections with faculty advisors, your professors, and academic resources. An afternoon session with the Registrar's staff will offer a demonstration of how to make good use of the Student Information System (ISIS) to add or drop courses, explore course offerings, confirm credit transfer, and respond to waitlisting.

Faculty Advising, Tuesday, September 2

All new students are assigned individual faculty advisors. Students will sign up for their appointments at 1:15 at faculty offices on Tuesday, September 2. Individual meetings with advisors will follow from 1:30-4:30 p.m. At this time, students will discuss their course choices and consider possible changes to their schedules. advisors will have copies of the preregistration materials. Students will receive a copy of their tentative schedules in their academic packets upon arrival on campus.

Preparation for Careers in the Health Sciences, Tuesday, September 2

Members of the Committee on the Health Professions will facilitate this special advising session for students interested in the health professions. As indicated in the online First-Year Curriculum Guide, this session will assist you in planning your fulfillment of requirements for health science career preparation.

Academic Fair

The Academic Fair will be held from 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 3. Faculty representatives from every department and program will be available to answer questions about particular courses. This is a time when students can discuss changes to their course schedules and learn about new possibilities for course selection. Courses may be added and dropped after this event, within the first two weeks of classes. (First-year students may select the ungraded option no later than Friday, November 14.)
