Robert B. Shaw came to the Mount Holyoke English Department in 1983
after some years of teaching at Harvard and Yale. He is the author
of several
books of poetry and of a study of the poetry of John Donne and George
Herbert. His poems and articles appear frequently in American and
British
magazines.
He regularly teaches poetry writing as well as courses in a number
of areas of literature. His wife, Hilary Shaw, was for several years
the Fellowship Coordinator in the Mount Holyoke Career Development
Center and is now pursuing a career in social work. The Shaws have
two adult children, a daughter and a son. He is currently writing a
book on the history and use of blank verse.
