Spanish Placement Exams

Please read these instructions before taking the Spanish placement test:

  1. Go to Brigham Young University's online Spanish placement test (see step 2 for login information), which is maintained by Brigham Young University, *not*  Mount Holyoke College.
  2. You will be prompted to type in a username and password:
User name: mtholyoke user (note space between words)
    Password: marylyon (lower case).

Exemption for Spanish Placement:
Only students with both native or near-native fluency and formal training in courses equivalent to our advanced courses can be exempted from the language requirement. High placement scores without formal training in Spanish do not warrant exemption. Students are recommended to take Spanish 209 (composition) or 210 (conversation), or 212 (introduction to critical analysis) if they have already taken courses equivalent to 209 or 210.

Please read the Spanish department course information carefully.  You may contat Esther Castro Cuenca by email (ecuenca) if you have any questions.
