French
Placement
| If
you have *never * studied French, you do not have to take a placement test. However, since French 101/102 is a two-semester course, you will have to wait until Fall 2009 to register. |
If you *have* studied French before coming to Mount Holyoke and wish to take a French course, please take the French placement test (see link below). We no longer require a questionnaire.
Placement test results are good for one semester only. If you do not register for a French course in the Fall 2008 semester, you must retake the exam to enroll in a subsequent semester.
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE TAKING THE PLACEMENT TEST
1. Your placement test results will be transfered to ISIS, giving you permission to register. This process may take as little as 1 hour or until the end of the next business day. You may see when your test results have been transfered by:
a) logging into ISIS,
b) choosing "ISIS for Students", and
c) selecting "Approvals, Holds, and Registration Access Time".
On that display you will see the French course/courses for which you may register.
2. Please register for an approved French course before registration ends on November 15th.
3. Please register for one course only:
- French 201 and French 203 also require a conversation lab, so you must also register for one of the 201 or 203 lab sections;
- if you are placed in 215 or higher, there is no conversation lab.
Despite the different numbers, all four culture and literature courses (215, 219, 225, and 230) are on the same level. You may register for the course of your choice.
