Alice Iglesias - Montpellier

I grew up in the small city of Oyonnax, located between Geneva and Lyon. Although the city itself is not exceptional, the surrounding area attracts many tourists. The region is well known for its lakes and mountains that make it attractive in the summer as well as in the winter.

I fell in love with Montpellier and its region almost four years ago, and I don’t plan on leaving anytime soon. Montpellier is a beautiful city that welcomes a tremendous number of students every year and also attracts a rising number of tourists, especially during the summer months. It is a charming place—not too big, not to small; it is near the sea, the mountains, the river, and is also close to Spain. The city and the region offer many activities such as rock climing, which I tried one afternoon. I still need lots of practice!

As a student at the University of Montpellier III Paul Valéry, I earned a degree in sociology. My next challenge is to study French as a foreign language and become a French teacher for foreigners.

I am really looking forward to my time at Mount Holyoke, sharing my French culture with students in the areas of music, movies, and cooking, and gaining a wonderful experience that will enrich my future.
