Meet the Faculty

A pioneer in distance learning through the use of satellite technology and the Web, Nicole Vaget has taught French to African students in Zimbabwe, Ghana, and Kenya.

A researcher with clout! When he’s not focusing on eighteenth- and nineteenth-century French novels and literary translation, Chris Rivers is researching twentieth-century boxers.

Nancy C. Holden-Avard is a specialist in pedagogy, foreign language acquisition, and curriculum development.

Elissa Gelfand focuses on French and Francophone women writers, twentieth-century French culture and literature, and comparative feminist theory.

Samba Gadjigo specializes in the film and literature of French-speaking Africa, particularly the work of influential filmmaker Ousmane Sèmbene.

Interested in nineteenth- and twentieth-century French and Russian comparative literature, and the New Wave and its Russian and American influences? Study with Catherine Le Gouis.
