The Department of German Studies strongly encourages all of its majors and minors to consider studying for a year in Germany or in a German-speaking country.

Students may apply for one of Mount Holyoke's exchanges with the University of Bonn, Leipzig, or Potsdam, or they may apply to go on another approved program--see the list of Recommended Study Abroad Programs on the McCulloch Center for Global Initiatives web site.

Students who are not on financial aid or who do not intend to apply for financial aid may apply to any program in a German-speaking country as long as it is approved by the department and the McCulloch Center for Global Initiatives.

BUDGET FOR EXCHANGES: If you are applying for one of the exchanges, see Joanne Picard in the McCulloch Center for Global Initiatives to ascertain what you should include in your Laurel Fellowship application. Note that this budget applies to each of the exchange schools (Bonn, Leipzig, or Potsdam).

If you have any questions or would like to know more about any of the programs, please contact the Department of German Studies at german-d@mtholyoke.edu.
