the former East Germans. Several of the articles are from previous
editions of Der Spiegel, but they are not necessary to
complete the unit.

The class should be divided into 5 groups. Each group reads
a section of the story, focusing on the questions/discussion
topics for that section.
OR
1.
An alternative could be that the class begins reading section
one together. Then the class would be divided into 4 groups,
one for each section remaining. The group then explains their
section in order, so that each student understands the story.
2.
The class should then be redivided so that each group has at least
one "expert" from each section. Each group is responsible for
the discussion topics and answering the questions. This can either
be as written work, oral work, or a combination of the two.
