Courses
The history department offers courses at several levels.
Foundation courses introduce history as a field of inquiry and are open only to first-year students.
The 100-level regional surveys focus on particular geographic areas; they have no prerequisites and are open to all students.
Sophomores, juniors, and seniors, as well as first-years with permission of the instructor, may take 200-level courses, which examine particular times and places in history and range in size from large survey courses to small seminars.
The department’s 300-level courses offer opportunities to examine topics in depth; admission is by permission of the instructor after submitting the 300-Level Application Form.
