I came to Mount Holyoke as a young biology professor shortly after Mary Lyon's retirement. I taught for about forty years, mostly physiology, neuroscience, some general biology, and a number of experimental courses, like Philosophy of Science, Quantitative Reasoning, and more which I do not wish to name. Some years ago I retired. The biology department threw a big party for me, and there were lots of presents. Then I came back and taught some more courses, but the department has refused to have another party, no matter how often I retire. Kate Dorfman and I have taught together in one course or another for more years than she wants to remember. I think this year I really am retiring. No matter WHAT you say!
