The students were Zanethia Eubanks (Mt. Holyoke '94), Sharon Simonton
(Mt. Holyoke '94), Karna Bryan (University of Nebraska '94), Roberta
Harris (Harvard College '94), Alison Henyey (Yale University '95),
Joshua Mandell (Yale University '95) and Molly Przeworski (Princeton
University '94).
This project continued the investigation of first variational
methods for the solution of partial differential equations and a
far-reaching investigation of convergence of approximations in the
classical calculus of variations using steepest descent relative to a
Sobolev metric.
