THE MINORS IN MATHEMATICS
and STATISTICS
Students
planning a minor in mathematics or statistics should consult a member
of the department.
REQUIREMENTS
The minor requires at least 16 credits (four courses) in the Department
of Mathematics & Statistics at the 200 level or above with at least
one at the 300 level.
The
Mathematics minor requires:
At
least one course from
- Math 203
- Calculus III (prereq: 103, 200, or 202, or equivalent)
-
Math 211 - Linear
Algebra (prereq: any 100-level math course)
-
Math 251 - Lab
in Math Experimentation (prereq: 103, 200, or 202, or equivalent)
and
one 300-level mathematics course.
With
departmental permission students who have already completed one exploration
course (Math 110, 114, 120, or 125) may elect to enroll in a second
exploration course, counting toward the minor.
The
Statistics minor requires:
- Stat 240 -
Elem Data Analysis & Exper. Design (prereq: I100, or any 100-level
math or stat course)

and
at least one of:
- Stat
340 - Applied Regression Analysis (prereq: Math 211 or any stat
course)
- Stat 341 - Linear Statistical
Models (prereq: Math 211, Stat 240, and Stat 340)
- Stat 343 - Mathematical Statistics
(prereq: Math 203 required; Stat 342 recommended)
or
Stat 344 - Sem in Stat & Scientific Research (prereq: Stat
340, or permission of instructor)
