Morena Svaldi

Visiting Lecturer in Italian

Specialization
Teaching methodology and pedagogy in second language acquisition, pedagogic strategies for students with learning disabilities, Italian intonation and regional accents

Morena Svaldi received a “Laurea” in psychology from the University of Padua. She worked for many years in Italy in the field of psychology and published articles about the connection between communication, relationships, and mental health. In 2006, she came to the United States and began to focus on teaching methodologies in second language acquisition. She is particularly interested in technological strategies to involve students in learning Italian language and culture.

At Mount Holyoke, Svaldi teaches beginning and intermediate Italian courses and has offered labs on Italian pronunciation and regional accents. She is a member of the American Association of Teachers of Italian.
