Eva Paus has published widely on different aspects of globalization and development. She recently co-edited The Rise of China: A Global Transformation? (Palgrave Macmillan, 2009), which is based on the McCulloch Center conference "The Rise of China" in March 2008.

She is the editor of Global Capitalism Unbound. Winners and Losers of Offshore Outsourcing. (Palgrave Macmillan, 2007; paperback 2009).

In 2005, Paus published the book Foreign Investment, Development, and Globalization. Can Costa Rica Become Ireland? (Palgrave Macmillan 2005). The University of Costa Rica Press published a Spanish translation of the book in March 2007.

Paus also coauthored Rates of Changes: Modeling Population and Resources and edited Struggle against Dependence: Nontraditional Export Growth in Central America and the Caribbean. She has published numerous journal articles, book chapters, and book reviews in journals such as Studies in Comparative International Development, World Development, Journal of Policy Reform, and The Journal of Developing Areas, among others. Paus has completed several field research projects in Latin America and Europe and presented her work at national and international conferences.

Her current research projects focus on the implications of the rise of China for the development prospects of (other) developing countries, the dilemma of policy space for pro-active development policies under current international multi-lateral and bilateral trade agreements, the role of foreign direct investment in the development process, and successful strategies in moving towards high-technology production.

Paus is the director of the McCulloch Center for Global Initiatives, a key part of the Plan for Mount Holyoke 2010. The mission of the Center is to equip MHC students to confront the global challenges of the 21st century. In addition to initiating new global education activities, which reach across the campus and beyond, the Center for Global Initiatives coordinates the College's existing internationally-related offerings into a coherent and dynamic whole. Paus previously directed the College's Center for Leadership and Public Interest Advocacy and was founding codirector of the Weissman Center for Leadership and the Liberal Arts.

In the classroom,Paus has been at the forefront of introducing active learning pedagogies into her economics classes; in particular, debates, simulations, and case method. Paus regularly offers a senior seminar on Economic Development in an Age of Globalization. Students consistently praise Paus as "brilliant!" and "entertaining" as well as "knowledgeable and fierce."
