Sami Rollins's current research focuses on content exchange in nontraditional environments, including peer-to-peer networks and small device environments. She has been involved in a variety of research projects, with focuses on pervasive device aggregation to developing a "next-generation" digital classroom. The goal of her research is to overcome the resource constraints of next-generation computing devices by using resources more intelligently and adapting applications to take advantage of available resources.
Rollins is the author of numerous conference publications, ranging from ED MEDIA conferences to the Ninth International World Wide Web Conference in Amsterdam and the IEEE International Conference on Multimedia and Expo. She has also published articles in Computer Networks and Concurrency: Practice and Experience.
Rollins teaches courses in computer networks and introductory computer programming as well as a senior seminar on networked systems and applications. Students have praised Rollins for her enthusiasm for the material, her challenging yet supportive teaching style, and her dedication to learning.
