Patricia A. Banks

Assistant Professor of Sociology

Patricia A. Banks teaches courses in race and ethnicity and the sociology of culture, and she studies how race structures cultural reception. Her research investigates this process among the black middle-class.

She grew up in Seattle, Washington and earned her B.A. in sociology from Spelman College (valedictorian, summa cum laude) and A.M.
and Ph.D. in sociology from Harvard University.
