| President: Ariel Markowitz-Shulman '09 |
Ariel is a senior majoring in biology and minoring in music. While she isn't enjoying the beautiful Mount Holyoke Campus, she is living in Washington, DC. She adores singing second soprano in Glee Club and loves being on the board. She also loves sushi, baking pies, filming ridiculous rap music videos, watching Food Network and sending snail-mail.
| Manager: Emilie Heidel '10 |
Emilie Heidel is a senior from New York, double-majoring in music and English. She participates in three different ensembles at Mount Holyoke: Glee Club, Chamber Singers and Vocal Jazz. She’s been taking voice lessons for almost ten years, including three years with MHC’s own Melinda Spratlan. She loves to read books that haven’t been assigned in class, listen to all kinds of music, and eat sweet things. She’s happy and proud to be serving as the Glee Club’s manager this year. |
| Treasurer: Meng Lu '10 |
Meng is an anthropology major, English minor from Newton, MA. This is her fourth year in the Glee Club. She also enjoys performing with the Chamber Singers. Some of her favorite things include reading Marie Howe poems in the woods, YA literature, playing her guitar Fiona, Nancy Drew computer games, and harassing people for money. |
| Eliminator of Confusion: Ellen Kujawa '11 |
Ellen Kujawa is a junior from Burlington, Vermont. She is double-majoring in music and environmental studies (concentrating in conservation biology) and loving every second of it. She has been a member of the Glee Club since she set foot on campus, sings in Chamber Singers and takes voice lessons with Melinda Spratlan. Besides singing, her favorite things include strategizing, her plants, autumn foliage, working as a T.A. for ecology, cooking, facebook stalking, watching Mythbusters and Good Eats, and her dog. |
| Assistant Business Manager: Janet Dunkelbarger '11 |
For the duration of her time here at MHC, Janet Dunkelbarger (Class 2011) has been a member of the Glee Club and Chamber Singers ensembles. Hailing from Westwood, Massachusetts, she is a History Major (hopefully to specialize in archaeology or historical conservation) and a Music Minor. Along with her role as Assistant Business Manager for the Mount Holyoke Glee Club, Janet is also one of the concert managers for the Music Department on campus. This summer Janet lived and worked in Gravina di Puglia, Italy, studying Roman Archaeology and sipping caffe freddo in the 120 degree summer heat. |
| Alto Secretary: Eleni Karagiannis '13 |
Eleni is a biochemistry major from local Amherst, Mass. In addition to singing in Glee Club (which is amazing), she also participates in Chamber Singers and plays violin in the MHC Orchestra. As a member of the Class of 2013, she is thoroughly enjoying her first year at Mt. Holyoke, and cannot wait for the years to come! Alto II's Rule!
Fact: In her last two years of high school Eleni sang in her school's all women's chorus, which won the gold medal in the MICCA competition and was awarded the chance to perform in Boston Symphony Hall in 2009. |
| Soprano Secretary: Lauren Robbins '10 |
Lauren Robbins is currently a senior and has been with the Glee club for three years (except one semester when she studied abroad in Scotland!). She hails from Natick, MA and is currently majoring in English and minoring in Music. Her favorite pieces are the Loeffler, the Faure Requiem, and the Carrillo Ave Maria. She is very excited about Glee Club this year! Among her favorite hobbies are watching 70s sci fi shows, collecting tea, and doing research on the 19th century. |
| Audio Coordinator: Catie Rowley '13 |
Catie Rowley is a First-Year from Brookline, Massachusetts. Her major is undecided as of yet; since her academic interests include the likes of Geology, Anthropology, and Linguistics, it may remain undecided for quite some time. She is very excited to be a part of the MHC Glee Club, and hopes to be embroiled in its activities for years to come. A Novice "Crewton" as well as a "Gleeker", she has many extracurricular interests; these include drawing cartoons, leaving short stories half-written, reading in the bath, and wearing silly hats. |
| Publicity Chair: Elizabeth Field '12 |
Elizabeth Field is a sophomore from Fairfield, CT, majoring in Psychology and Education. This will be her second year singing with the Glee Club and Chamber Singers and she is very excited. When not singing, she loves playing with blocks and sand tables, finger painting, outdoor recess, and just about anything else the preschoolers she works with enjoy! |
| Librarian: Meredith Peters '10 |
Meredith Peters is a Senior Music Major, Psychology Minor who hails from Portland, Oregon. She is in her fourth year with the Glee Club, and her first year with Chamber Singers. Previously, she was also a member of Chorale for two and a half years, and sang with the Five-College Early Music group Voces Feminae for one year. She is addicted to Renaissance Polyphony, chocolate, tea and being with her friends. |
| Fundraising Chair: Kelsey Schramma '12 |
Kelsey is absolutely delighted to be joining the ranks of the Glee Club Board this year as Fundraising Chair. As a sophomore she has been in Glee Club and Chamber Singers since she came to MHC and is a passionate music minor. Chemistry is her life’s calling and she loves to get excited about the simplest things (polarity of water). She currently works as a PLUMS mentor on campus and her home town is Loveland, Colorado. She loves greeting people operatically, leaving mysterious messages on chalk and white boards, staying at home doing a puzzle while listening to a recorded book, pretending to be a cat, and creating decorative objects for special occasions. |
| Historian: Alexandra Fleagle '11 |
Alexandra Fleagle is a History major/Geology minor from Stony Brook, NY. She knew that she wanted to be a part of the Mount Holyoke Choral Forces from the moment she first learned of Christmas Vespers as a prospective student. Tossing aside her normally reserved demeanor, she shrieked with delight in her dormitory's computer lab upon receiving her original acceptance into the Chorale in Fall 2007. Now a junior, Alex has been a proud "Gleeker" since January 2009; and she looks forward to assembling a pictorial biography of the 2009-2010 Glee Club. |
| Webmistress: Charlotte Wen '11 |
Charlotte is a junior from Los Angeles, California, majoring in postwar East Asian History and possibly minoring in Sociology. Web development has been a primary source of amusement for her since junior high, and she's thrilled to once again have the chance to fiddle with the Choral Ensembles website. She is obsessed with lyricists, puzzles, Adobe software, boy bands, typography, cognitive linguistics, her car, pictures of baby animals, and the Oxford comma. |
