World Music

Five College West African Music Ensembles under the direction of Faith Conant will meet Wednesdays during the fall 2008 semester. These courses will focus on learning by ear and playing the polyrhythmic traditional music of the peoples of southern Ghana, Togo and Benin, including sections of Adjogbo and Agbekor. All students will learn drum, rattle and bell parts, some songs and some dance steps as well. Non musicians are welcome, but practicing between classes is required.

Klezmer Band

The Klezmer Band is composed of all instruments and performs dance music of Eastern Europe. Students at all levels of experience learn to play in the folk tradition,using modes and employing techniques that are traditional in this unique music.
