ADRIANNE
GREENBAUM, Associate Professor of flute, is a highly acclaimed
performer throughout the East Coast. Born to a
musical family in Akron Ohio, she received her
B.M. from the Oberlin College Conservatory studying
with Robert Willoughby and her M.M. from the Yale
School of Music studying with Thomas Nyfenger.
Her studies have also included advanced work in
harpsichord and piano.
For many years Ms.
Greenbaum performed with the NYC Ballet Orchestra
as well as with the Mostly Mozart Festival of
NY and the Berlin Ballet at the Met. She is currently
Solo Flutist of the New Haven Symphony Orchestra,
Orchestra New England and the Wall Street Chamber
Players. In addition to teaching at MHC she has
held teaching positions at Wesleyan and Yale Universities
and at Smith College. Solo and orchestral recordings
include her own CD; Sounds of America;as well
as recordings on the Koch International and CBS
Masterworks labels.
In addition to classical
music Ms. Greenbaum is well known as one of the
foremost klezmer musicians. In 1995 she founded
The Klezical Tradition,
a klezmer band that has received much attention.
Their recently released album; Family Portrait;
won awards from Crossroads and Moment Magazines
and received 5-star reviews from prominent folk
music critics. To see

has brought her expertise in klezmer to MHC by
forming the student klezmer band which traditionally
holds end-of-classes music and dance celebrations
each semester.
