Minor

The music minor is a flexible program designed to be responsive to students' varied interests. Like the major, it reflects the Department's philosophical belief in integration of the various aspects of music.

Credits
A minimum of 20 credits above the 100 level

Courses
Music 231, Theory I; Music 232, Theory II

Either Music 281, History of Western Music I or 282, History of Western Music II

8 additional credits at or above the 200 level (excluding 295 and 395), including at least one 4-credit 300-level course in music theory, history,ethnomusicology, performance or composition.

200-level individual performance study may be counted toward the minor if you study two consecutive semesters in the same instrument or in voice.
