About Us

The physics department at Mount Holyoke is distingushed by the close relationship between students and faculty, small class sizes, and opportunity for independent work. The nature of the department cultivates a cooperative and supportive learning environmnent in which students may achieve their full academic potential.

The average number of majors are 7-8 in each class year. Graduates continue on to graduate school, while others go into industry, medical school, flight school, etc.

Department offices and the student lounge are located on the 2nd floor of Kendade in the unified science center. Its close proximity to the other science departments allows for an integrated understanding of the disciplines.
