Students
Students
of physics at Mount Holyoke tend to have a variety of interests.
One thing in common to all is the intellectual excitement which
accompanies thinking about and talking about and puzzling over
the problems and ideas they encounter in their physics courses.
It is not uncommon for a strong bond to form between physics
majors and minors. The physics lounge is a haven within Kendade
Hall offering a forum for late-night discussions, hanging out,
and serious study.
The Mount
Holyoke chapter of the Society of Physics Students (SPS)
is active in attending five-college lectures, speaking at the
annual Five College Physics Symposium, and organizing fun events
for physics students.
Most of
our majors complete summer and/or J-term internships during
their time at Mount Holyoke. Historically, many go on to graduate
school in physics, engineering, astronomy. Others choose to
work in a variety of fields such as medicine and business. And
all of these women leave the Mount Holyoke physics program with
the tools for learning and for analytical thinking which they
can apply as they choose wherever they go.
