Course Requirements:
As career-changers, most students entering the postbac program have not completed any college-level science. Preparation for medical, dental or veterinary school requires the basic science and math courses listed below. All of these courses are covered by the program tuition.
- General Chemistry I & II
- Post-Bac Biology I & II
- Organic Chemistry I & II
- Physics I & II
- Calculus I & Statistics
Students who have taken 1-2 college science courses previously may receive advance standing and may select other upper-level courses in place of those already taken. All students are welcome to take additional upper-level courses on a per-course tuition basis.
Postbaccalaureates design their own programs with the close consultation of a faculty advisor in order to fulfill the specific prerequisites needed for the application to professional school. Most postbaccalaureates study mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, and English, all of which are among the suggested minimum admission requirements for medical, dental, and veterinary schools. Independent work with a faculty member is encouraged and supported. Postbaccalaureates have the option of a part-time (two courses per semester) or full-time (three or four courses per semester) course load.
Beyond the campus, the Five College Consortium offers a Five College Certificate in Culture, Health, and Science, which allows students an opportunity to explore human health, disease, and healing from an interdisciplinary perspective.
