Women in Politics
Gamble Auditorium, 7:30 pm
The symposium participants will analyze what have been the main
achievements of women in elected politics, what are the main
obstacles to increasing the number of female representatives,
and whether female representation makes any difference with respect
to social change and the kinds of issues being addressed.
Moderator: Ruth Mandel (Director , Eagleton
Institute of Politics, Rutgers University; formerly founder and
longtime director of the Center for the American Woman and Politics
at Rutgers).

explore these differences (as well as the commonalities) and
their underlying assumptions and implications.

Promoting Change from the Bottom Up

The participants in the forum have brought about important change
for others in a variety of different contexts. They will explore
the possibilites and obstacles for change at the grassroots level
and the commonalities and differences across different social
spheres of engagement.
