Brown vs. Board of Education
The series "Geographies of Color: Education, Inequality and Black
Leadership in the 21st Century" is, in part, a response to the
50th anniversary of the landmark 1954 civil rights case, Brown
v. Board of Education. Click here
to read the text of the decision. Our series asks: What is the racial
and political landscape in the U.S. fifty years after the Supreme
Court declared segregation unconstitutional? What effect did the
case have on social issues such as access to education and economic
opportunities? Professor Kimberle Crenshaw will speak on the legacies
of Brown on Thursday, March 4, 7:30 pm in Gamble Auditorium.
