Mount
Holyoke College Art Museum
The Mount Holyoke
College Art Museum is located in the Art Building,
which was built in 1971 and renovated in 2002. The museum's collection
includes 11,000 objects ranging from antiquity to the present.
The renovation added 2,800 square feet of much-needed additional
gallery space, and new spaces were created for seventeenth-, eighteenth-,
and early nineteenth-century art, in addition to modern and contemporary
art, much of which had been in storage for the last decade because
of the limited space.
One of the oldest
teaching museums, the museum has exhibitions throughout the year
to provide firsthand experience with works of significant aesthetic
and cultural value.
