The
Five College Women's Studies Research Center
The Five College Women's
Studies Research Center was founded in 1991 to support research
on all aspects of women's studies.
Supported by the Five
College Consortium, the center is a collaborative project of the
women's studies programs at each of the four colleges and the
University of Massachusetts. With a combined faculty of more than
350 scholars with a primary research or teaching interest in women's
studies, this collaboration is one of the largest concentrations
of such scholars anywhere in the world.
The center offers
free, biweekly public talks featuring the work of research associates.
All talks are open to the public. Local faculty, scholars, writers,
and activists also present their work at the center. The center
sponsors periodical conferences, book signings, film showings,
study groups, and public forums on scholarly and contemporary
issues in women's studies.
The Five College Women's
Studies Research Center is located on the Mount Holyoke campus
in two large Victorian houses at 79 and 83 College Street.
