Requirements for Major in Anthropology
Credits:
- A minimum of 32 credits in anthropology
- 12 credits at the 300 level
Courses:
- 105, Introduction to Cultural Anthropology
- 235, Development of Anthropological Thought (or Sociology 223, Development of Social Thought)
- 275, Doing Ethnography: Research Methods in Anthropology
- 350, Issues in Contemporary Anthropological Theory
- One cultural area course from among:
- 202, Latin American Society and Culture
- 203, Exploring Asian Americas
- 204, Anthropology of Modern Japan
- 205, Cultures of Europe
- 207, Peoples of the South Pacific
- 208, Topics in Ethnology
Upper-class students are further encouraged to pursue their own research interests through independent study, honors, and thesis work in their senior year.
Note: Anthropology 295, 390, or 395 do not count toward the requirements of courses in the major at the 200 and 300 level. |
