Eleanor Townsley Professor of Sociology |
| Eleanor Townsley teaches courses in the sociology of gender, culture and intellectuals, survey research and data analysis, and archival and field methods. Her research is on the sociology of intellectuals, specifically, cultural fields in contemporary capitalist societies, trope theory (the “1960s”, “public intellectuals”, “interdisciplinarity”), and theories of the new class. She has growing interests in how intellectual worlds are gendered, mass media and media intellectuals, and the history of sociology. | |
