1. Language Requirement Credit Transfer

To receive permission to take a course at institutions other
than Mt. Holyoke to satisfy your language requirement. Submit description and syllabus for approval.
To receive credit for a course taken at another institution other than
Mt. Holyoke to satisfy your language requirement. Submit all pertinent materials (course syllabus, tests, papers. . .) for approval.
Transfer students who have not fulfilled the language requirement prior to matriculating at Mount Hoyoke, as determined by the Registrar, should take the online placement test just like any other student and will be placed in a Spanish course accordingly.
2. Credit Transfer Towards Spanish Major or Minor

To receive credit towards your major or minor for courses taken
at institutions other than Mt. Holyoke.
3. Study Abroad Credit Transfer (please also see link to Study Abroad)
a. Students should contact the Study Abroad Office (CGI) first, and determine what study abroad program(s) may be best suited to their academic goals and financial needs.
b. Spanish majors or minors must then contact our study abroad advisors before
registering for courses abroad to determine what
courses may receive credit towards the Spanish major or minor upon satisfactory completion.

c. The Department of Spanish will give a maximum of 8 credits total at the 200 or 300 levels towards
its major or minor for students who spend one semester abroad and up to
20 credits will be given towards their major or minor for students who spend two semesters abroad.
d. The Department of Spanish will accept no more than 8 credits taken
abroad at the 300 level.
e. Decisions will be based on academic criteria. It
is required for the student to present the department with
syllabi and
all relevant materials. Courses on a variety of
subjects (literature, history, art, film, but also political
science, economics,
sociology…) may count towards the major, but only after the
study abroad advisor should approve of the course contents and objectives.
