  • Rosario M. De Swanson is originally from Ameca, Mexico, a small country city in the state of Jalisco. She has a BA from Smith College in Latin American Literature & History (1998), and a Masters Degree and Ph. D from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in Contemporary Hispanic American Literature.  Her dissertation studies the emergence of Afro Hispanic American Literature through the study of three novels written in the last decades of the twentieth century.  She has published in Hispania and in Letras Femeninas. Her main research interests include Contemporary Latin American Literature, Mexican and Indigenous Literature, Latin American Colonial Literature, Caribbean Literature & Music, and Feminist and Post-colonial Theory.  She has taught a first year writing seminar Modern Latin American Women Writers and Spanish 219 and 235.  This year she is teaching Spanish 201 and 212.
