A graduate of Columbia University, Joyce Devlin spent ten years
in professional theatre and television before beginning her academic
career. Trained as an actor/dancer/singer, Ms. Devlin's interest
in performance ranges from serious drama to performance art to musical
theatre. Her theatrical publications include an annotated bibliography
of scenes and monologues for women, and essays on the alternative
British theatre. Former chair of the department, Ms. Devlin also
served as president of the New England Theatre Conference and chair
of the
new play division of the American College Theatre Festival. She is
currently creating a performance piece on the acoustic bass.
