Crew Lab Requirements
Lab
Some courses may require a student's participation in a preparation or a running crew on a major production on one of the five campuses. One such crew will satisfy a student's lab requirement for courses taken in a single semester.
Prep Crews
- 200 and 300 level courses require an average of 6 hours per week for approximately 4 to 5 weeks.
- Every crew is different and every production is different from every other show, so time commitments will vary.
- The requireent for students in 100 level courses is half: 3 hours a week for approximately 4 to 5 weeks.
- Arrangements must be made at the beginning of the semester with the crew head.
Running Crews
- Vary from production to production, but generally will begin the day before Tech Rehearsal and continue through the end of strike; elapsed time is approx. 10 days.
ALL Actor, Prep and Running crews must participate in the strike of the production, immediately following the closing performance. Your crew is NOT complete until the end of strike.
Strike
The purpose of strike is to remove the sets, lights, props, and costumes as quickly and safely as possible.
- On strike night please bring work clothes and heavy shoes.
- Check callboard to see what crew you'll be on.
- Return tools to the tool table when finished with a particular job.
- When finished with one job, ask for another.
- Because we need to shout to the grid and catwalks, we can't play music during the strike.
- No food or drink until after strike. Pizza will served at the end of Strike.
Failure to fulfill a crew will result in a significant reduction in your grade.
