Alternatives for Community and Environment
Based in Roxbury, Massachusetts, Alternatives for
Community & Environment (ACE) has been working in partnership
with low income communities and communities of color to achieve environmental
justice since 1993. ACE provides legal and technical support, educational
programs, and organizing assistance to community groups throughout
New England to solve environmental problems and develop local environmental
leadership.
· Educating citizens on their rights and opportunities for
involvement in environmental and public health decision making.
· Developing the capacity of neighborhoods to take control
over problems affecting their health and environment.
· Creating systemic solutions to address the unequal distribution
of environmental burdens and to promote safe, sustainable economic
development.

Connecticut Coalition for Environmental Justice

Connecticut Coalition for Environmental
Justice has been designed to meet the environmental health and environmental
justice need of powerless urban communities and communities of color
in Connecticut, starting in Hartford and Bridgeport CT.
· The Connecticut Coalition for Environmental Justice is made
up of 11 organizations: ONE/CHANE, Coalition to Strengthen the Sheldon/Charter
Oak Neighborhood (CSS/CON), Hartford Area Rallies Together (HART),
Building Parent Power, North Hartford Seniors in Action, Hartford
Federation of Teachers, The Hispanic Health Council, Conn. Fund for
the Environment, Black Men's Society, The Natural Guard, and Toxics
Action Center.
· The mission of the Connecticut Coalition for Environmental
Justice is: to protect urban environments in Connecticut through community
education, promoting changes in state policy, and promoting individual,
corporate and governmental responsibility towards our environment.
