Judith Reppy
Women's Studies Independent Research Grant
The Judith Reppy Women's Studies Independent Research Grant is made possible by the generosity of Judith Voris Reppy '58, who graduated magna cum laude from the College and went on to earn a master's degree from Yale University and a doctorate in economics from Cornell University. She has directed the Peace Studies Program at Cornell and has studied the economics of defense, security and peace for many years. The Judith Reppy Women's Studies Independent Research Grant will provide funds for Mount Holyoke College students pursuing independent study projects related to the study of women. The grant is intended to provide assistance for projects that could be implemented or enhanced by some outside financial support and will be awarded each fall and spring semester based on the merit of the project proposal and availability of funds.
Susan Jones
Prize
Susan Jones graduated from Mount Holyoke College in 1974.
Jonesie, as she was known to her friends, was concerned with the problems that
affected many people--racism, gay rights, political-military decisions affecting
world peace, women's rights, and human rights--problems that still persist
today. After she passed away, her classmates established this fund in her memory
from which yearly awards would be made to assist and encourage students to
pursue work and study in the critical areas she was so concerned with. Prizes
are awarded for outstanding essays on a topic in Women's Studies and for
exemplary feminist activism. Presentation of these prizes takes place at
the annual "At
Home" held
during Commencement weekend.
Emley Clogston Eldridge
'32 Prize
The Emley Eldridge Prize in Women's Studies was established
by David L. Eldridge in 1999. Mr. Eldridge, grandson of the late Emley
Eldridge '32, established this fund as a tribute to his grandmother.
This prize will be awarded yearly to a student whose work has been
an outstanding achievement in the field of Women's Studies. This prize
is also presented during the annual "At Home."
