Geoffrey Sumi, Dean of Studies
Geoff Sumi supports and oversees the work of the academic deans. Working closely with the registrar, he administers the academic regulations of the College set by the faculty. He also chairs the Academic Administrative Board and the Committee on Fellowships. View Faculty Profile.
Leah Glasser
Dean of First-Year Studies
Leah Glasser works closely with first-year students as their most central resource for academic guidance. In addition, she offers individual academic advice to first-year students, coordinates faculty advising, and encourages students to access the broad network of support that is available at Mount Holyoke. Angie Whitmal
Dean of the Classes of 2012 & 2013
Angie Whitmal works closely with students to assist them in achieving their academic and personal goals. She oversees the Weed Research Scholars Program which is committed to providing African American, Asian American, Latina, and Native American students with the opportunity to work on a distinctive research project with the support of a faculty mentor. Dean Whitmal is an adjunct professor in African American and African Studies Department.

Many students find the dean’s office when faced with a problem, but the office can be a resource even before that point. I encourage students to drop by for small questions or just a brief chat. Sometimes the most mundane conversations are what lead to brilliant revelations, in one’s work or life.
