Mount Holyoke College Update :: January 2013
A newsletter for parents and families

A Message from President Lynn Pasquerella '80

Dear Parents, Family, and Friends, Lynn Pasquerella

What an exciting time to be at Mount Holyoke, as we celebrate 175 years of women of influence! Events throughout the year have showcased the intellectual, creative, and artistic vibrancy of our faculty, staff, students, and alumnae, and the many ways in which we carry out our mission of using liberal learning for purposeful engagement in the world. During my tenure as Mount Holyoke’s eighteenth president, it has been such an honor and privilege to meet and welcome so many of you to the campus or at events around the globe. Each and every one of you is a vitally important member of the Mount Holyoke community, and our goal is keep you both informed and engaged in the life of the College.

This e-newsletter has been designed by a team of campus leaders who communicate regularly with family members and friends of our students. We have designed the newsletter to be timely, easy to read, and useful for family members and friends of current students and recent graduates. We welcome your suggestions for improvements and your ideas for articles or references of interest. Please email your suggestions to my chief of staff, Jennifer Sanborn, or our associate director of The Mount Holyoke Fund, Jill Stern.

Thank you, and Happy New Year!

It's a commemoration of the 175th anniversary of the College's opening—an act that launched a revolution in women's education—and a tribute to the thousands of alumnae who have used their Mount Holyoke educations to create, contribute, inspire, and lead.
