Meilleurs Voeux: Holiday Greeting Cards from Around the World

December 7, 2007-January 15, 2008

Archives & Special Collections Lobby, Dwight Hall

Among the most colorful items in Archives and Special Collections are holiday greeting cards exchanged by Mount Holyoke students, alumnae, faculty, and administrators.  On display in the Dwight Hall Lobby during this holiday season are  Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Day post cards from the 1890s-1920s, greetings from international students who attended the College from the 1950s-1970s, original cards designed by members of the Art Department, and cards created for the use of several Mount Holyoke Presidents.  The exhibit also includes handmade "spit cards" popular among students from about 1910-1940.  These cards will remain on exhibit through mid-January, when valentines from the collections will be displayed.
