The Connecticut Dressage Association is excited to jointly sponsor the USDF Instructor Certification Workshop Series with the Connecticut Dressage and Combined Training Association, which will be held at Mt. Holyoke in Massachusetts. The primary goal of this program is to educate instructors who aspire to be certified, and an equally important goal is to educate any dressage riders wishing to expand their knowledge and skills. The program will improve understanding of classical theory, develop skills, and, if desired, help participants reach a level of expertise to enable them to work toward becoming USDF Certified Instructors. The workshops are composed of three parts: riding, teaching, and lungeing. Normally, USDF programs are limited to 8 participants, but due to the need for a Region 8 program, double sessions will allow 16. Each workshop will be comprised of lectures, hands-on sessions, discussion and feedback. Participation in any capacity is an exceptional learning opportunity.

Applications for participants and demonstration riders can be found on CDA, CDCTA and USDF websites. Deadlines for participant and demo rider applications will be on the first day of the month prior to the workshop: March 1st, April 1st and June 1st, respectively.
You may sign up for all three workshops on one application. A large number of demo riders will be needed, so do not hesitate to apply. The opportunity to work under the watchful eyes of the Instructor Certification Faculty and Examiners is an amazing opportunity. Send applications to Donna Leonessa at 3080 South Street, Coventry CT 06238. For questions, call her at (860) 933-1854 or email: dleonessa@hotmail.com.
Lunch will be provided for all participating instructors, demo riders, and volunteers.
Mt Holyoke is generously offering the use of school horses for the small fee of $15/ride. Stabling for your own horse will be $35/night. Stalls will not have initial bedding and must be left clean at the end of the weekend. Bedding and hay will be for sale on site.
Volunteers may audit for free. There will be a reduced audit fee for members of CDA, CDCTA, and Mt. Holyoke students. An auditor sign up will be online soon and will be in upcoming CDA and CDCTA newsletters.
