Beginner Hunt Seat Horses

Billy

Billie (Black Ice) arrived at MHC in the fall of 2005. He is a beautiful 1995 gray Warmblood-cross gelding donated to the Equestrian Center by Judy Manchester and her family. He has been a terrific addition to our school horse population. He is a kind and hardworking horse who has taken his riders to the top in the hunter ring. In 2004 he won the Western Massachusetts finals.

Chezwick is one of the cutest horses ever. With the patience of a saint, he guides MHC beginners teching them how to ride.
Seven is the little Quarter pony that could. He is still learning but kind enough to forgive. A cute mover and good jumper, he will make a nice show pony with some miles.
Tucker, after spending the summer in Maine at camp, has joined the riding program full force. Comfortable and willing, he instills confidence in his beginner riders.
Mackenzie Mackenzie is a palomino Appendix Quarter Horse. He may very well be the most reliable school horse at MHC. While looks may not be his strong point, he is very kind and always does what his rider asks of him. He enjoys jumping, both in the ring and on the cross-country field.
Rhumpy Rhumpy is a 14.3-hand bay Morgan cross gelding who came to us in the spring of 2005. A willing partner on the flat, Rhumpy’s jumping skills are improving after a summer at Camp Forrest Acres with MHC riding coach C. J. Law.
Silver Silver is a 15-hand Quarter Horse cross. He was donated the summer of 2004 by MHC alumna Margaret Golden. Almost immediately after arriving at MHC, Silver packed his bags and headed off to Camp Forrest Acres in Maine with MHC riding coach C.J. Law. At camp, he taught many youngsters how to walk and trot. As his training progressed, his knack for jumping became apparent. He is enjoyed by all lower-level riders.
Viktor

Viktor is a big bay horse with a big sweet face. He was foaled in 2000. He moved into the Equestrian Center the summer of 2004 after being trained as a driving horse. One of the most willing horses in the barn, Viktor quickly adapted to being under saddle and soon learned to jump. He is a gentle horse with a wonderful sense of humor.

Uno (Uno Gold Piece) is a register Palomino Paint horse from Carolyn Fuller-Coggins of Westhampton. With his big blaze and four white stockings, he is cute as a golden button. Although alittle green, he is willing, safe, and has a great jump. Look out pony finals!

Pongo, aka "The Spotted Wonder", is a loudly spotted appy gelding. With the total appalossa attitude of make me, he teaches the beginners to ride with confidence.

Suess came in with the appy trio. One of th most willing and kind horses MHC has seen in a while. Though looks are not his strong point, his atleticism shines.

May is the mare of our appy herd. A talented teacher, she was donated by Marian Adgate of Massachusetts and has been a great addition to our college and community programs.

Libby (Spindletop Lizzie) arrived at MHC in November 2005. She is a black Shire/Dutch/Thoroughbred cross. Foaled in 1997, Libby has done some jumping but competed in dressage with her donor, Linda Munzer. Libby is a well-rounded horse and an excellent addition to both the hunt seat and dressage programs.
Splash was donated to us in the Fall of 2006 by Mount Holyoke student Mary Anne Mack.  She adds color to our barn with her splash of spots. She gives our riders confidence while at the same time challenging them to improve constantly.
