Dressage Horses

Chewy Chewy is a big bay Thoroughbred with a white blaze. Chewy decided himself that he’d like to be a dressage horse, when he made it clear that he would prefer not to jump. Since then he has been an invaluable asset to our dressage riders, teaching them that soft is better!

Blinky (Irish Myth) is a chestnut Irish Thoroughbred gelding, donated to MHC by alumna Annie Shaker. Blinky’s former career was as a jumper, but he has taken to dressage with alacrity. He scored 70 percent at training level, test 4 in the summer of 2005. Blinky is a pleasure to ride—light in the hand and quick to the aids.

Dijon (C’est Vrais), is a handsome chestnut Selle Français gelding, born in 1993. He was donated in 2003 by the Parker family. A successful junior hunter in his earlier years, “DJ” has become a favorite of the dressage program.

Jake (Just Jake) is a gray gelding. He was donated to MHC in 2005 by Madison and Judy Jones. He was first level champion at a horse show in the summer of 2005. While he is primarily a dressage horse, occasionally he steps in to help our hunt seat riders, who appreciate his willing, forward jump.

Maurice was a wonderful addition to our program in the fall of 2006 from his owner Jackie Harris. He is a confirmed Prix St Georges dressage horse. This 1991, bay, Hanoverian gelding is especially lovely because, while he is very highly schooled, he also has wonderfully comfortable gaits and a light mouth. This makes him particularly fun to learn on and he has a great deal to teach.

Oktane is a 15.3h chestnut Anglo Arab foaled in 1996.  He is a competitive second level dressage horse. His size makes him very rideable and his beautiful face with soft doe eyes melts your heart before you even get on.
