Samantha Williams

Hunt Seat and Dressage Instructor

Sam began teaching at MHC in the fall of 2003. She is a 1997 MHC alum, having graduated cum laude with a double major in studio art and English. While a student, she was also a member of the equitation team and the cross-country running team. Sam evented through Preliminary level on her own horse, Gretchen, who is now a school horse for the Williston Northampton School’s equitation team. Sam began teaching the Williston team in 2002.

Sam is a long-time student of FEI dressage trainer Chris Hickey. She has also worked and ridden for Arlene Page (who got her hooked on dressage!) in Massachusetts, Florida, and Europe, where Sam rode with Conrad Schumacher. Sam’s most influential teachers, along with the above, have been Leslie Kornfeld, Janet and Jiffy Read, Lilo Fore and Ulla Salzgeber.

Sam is an active USDF member, having completed the USDF instructor/trainer workshops, and was recommended for certification testing. In addition to teaching at MHC, Sam also trains out of Fuller’s Horse Farm in Westhampton, Massachusetts, rides for Chris Hickey, and travels to teach and train. She is currently showing horses at various levels for clients and hopes to show her own horse, Lucero, 3rd leveling 2006.
