Player of the Week

WPI junior forward Serena Dubois has been named New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Player of the Week for the week of January 19-25. In a 2-0 week for the Engineers, Dubois averaged 23.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per outing and shot 63.6% (21-33) from the field. The forward erupted for a career high 29 points in WPI's thrilling 72-66 overtime triumph over Springfield College on Saturday. After her team rallied from a 12 point deficit with less then three minutes remaining in regulation, Dubois set the tone in overtime, collecting the first two baskets. She added 11 rebounds in the contest to complete her seventh double-double of the season. On Wednesday, Dubois tallied team highs of 18 points and eight rebounds, as the Engineers picked up a 59-39 road victory over the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Rookie of the Week

Babson College first year forward Kathleen King has been named New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Rookie of the Week for the week of January 19-25. King averaged 23.0 points, 10.5 rebounds and 3.0 steals in a 1-1 week for the Beavers. She shot 51.6% (16-31) from the field and 87.5% (14-16) from the charity stripe. On Wednesday, King recorded 24 points, nine boards and three steals in a 78-44 win over Wellesley College. The forward went 9-of-16 from the field and 6-of-7 from the free throw line in just 24 minutes played. She then recorded a double-double on team highs of 22 points and 12 rebounds in Babson's 65-58 setback versus Smith College on Saturday.

Honor Roll
  • Katie Sylvain, Westfield State College (Sr, G, Hadley, Mass.) - Sylvain led the Owls to 2-0 week, averaging 15.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game. The guard totaled 14 points, seven boards and seven assists in 63-47 victory over the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. She then tallied 16 points and four helpers in a 64-44 triumph over Framingham State College. For the week, she shot 52.0% (12-23) from field.
  • Shelby Bradford, Husson University (Jr, F, Lee, Maine) - In a 2-0 week for the Eagles, Bradford averaged a double-double on 23.0 points and 17.0 rebounds per game. The guard totaled eight assists and four steals. In an 80-67 win over Green Mountain College, she racked up 25 points, 18 rebounds, four assists and four steals. She went 6-of-11 from the floor and 13-of-15 from the free throw line in the contest. Bradford’s second double-double of the week came in a 61-58 triumph over Castleton State College, when she tallied 21 points, 16 boards and four assists.
  • Caitlyn Laflin, University of Maine at Farmington (Jr, F, Farmingdale, Maine) - Laflin recorded her 1,000th career point to highlight a 3-0 week for the Beavers. For the week, she averaged 19.7 points and 9.3 rebounds per game. The forward netted a game high 23 points in a win over Johnson State College. She also posted a double-double on 19 points and 13 boards to help the Beavers to a victory over Lyndon State College.
  • Alli Gamache, University of New England (Sr, G, Dudley, Mass.) - Gamache averaged 18.5 points in a 2-0 week for the Nor’easters. The guard knocked down eight three pointers en route to scoring 26 points in a win over Eastern Nazarene College. She also racked up seven assists in that contest.
  • Rachael Mack, Colby College (Fy, F, Augusta, Maine) - In a 2-1 week for the Mules, Mack averaged 14.3 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.7 blocked shots per game. She shot 65% (13-20) from the field and 94% (17-18) from the foul line. The forward posted a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds in Colby's 58-55 upset of 11th-ranked Tufts Univesity.

  • University of Maine Farmington junior forward Caitlyn Laflin recorded her 1,000th career point. 
  • Brandeis University junior guard Jessica Chapin became the fourth player in program history to reach 100 three pointers made.
