MHC Athletics LogoAwards Handed Out at Annual Athletic Banquet
The Mount Holyoke College Department of Athletics hosted its annual awards celebration on Wednesday evening in Chapin Auditorium. Individuals from all 14 varsity teams were honored. Associate Athletic Director Lori Hendricks served as the event's emcee.

NEWMAC LogoNEWMAC Announces Winter Academic All-Conference Squads
The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) recently announced its 2007-08 Winter Academic All-Conference Teams. Nine Mount Holyoke College student-athletes were recognized for their achievements in their respective sports as well as in the classroom. Academic All-Conference Teams were selected for the women's and men's basketball and women's and men's swimming and diving.

Marisa BaroneBabson Tops Basketball, 78-60
Senior forward Linsey Poulson tallied team-highs of 18 points and seven rebounds to propel the Babson College women's basketball team to a 78-60 victory over Mount Holyoke College this afternoon in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action at the Mildred Howard Gymnasium. With the win, the Beavers improved to 12-13 overall and 7-6 in league play. The Lyons rounded out their 2007-08 campaign with an overall mark of 5-19 and a Conference record of 2-11.

Think Pink LogoBasketball Takes Part in "Think Pink"
The Mount Holyoke College Department of Athletics recently partnered with the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) to raise awareness in the fight against breast cancer through the "Think Pink" initiative. "Think Pink" is a global, unified effort for the WBCA nation of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond. During its basketball game against Smith College on Saturday, February 16, Mount Holyoke received $200 in contributions, which was donated to the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund.

Emilie MethotLate Rally Pushes Coast Guard Past Basketball, 58-48
First year guard Jennifer Tamminen racked up a career-high 23 points off the bench to help the Coast Guard Academy women's basketball team to a 58-48 triumph over New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) foe Mount Holyoke College this evening in New London, Conn. The Bears overcame a ten-point second half deficit en route to completing the season sweep of the Lyons.

Erin CainBasketball Edges Smith in Thriller, 47-46
Sophomore guard Erin Cain delivered 16 points and five rebounds to boost the Mount Holyoke College women's basketball team to a thrilling 47-46 victory over New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) foe Smith College this afternoon at the Mildred Howard Gymnasium. With the win, the Lyons avenged a 63-48 setback at Smith on January 30 and evened the season series at one game apiece. Mount Holyoke has defeated the Pioneers in five of the programs' last six meetings.

Junior center Lauren O'Connor piled up game-highs of 16 points, nine rebounds and two blocked shots to power the Springfield College women's basketball team to a 74-47 victory over New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) foe Mount Holyoke College this evening at the Mildred Howard Gymnasium. With the win, Springfield completed the season sweep of the Lyons.

Junior forwards Jessica Duff and Julia Thomas recorded double-doubles to lift the Wellesley College women's basketball team to a 49-36 victory over Mount Holyoke College this evening in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action at the Keohane Sports Center. With the win, the Blue improved to 6-13 (3-6 NEWMAC) on the year. Mount Holyoke fell to 4-16 (1-8 NEWMAC).

Sophomore forward Serena Dubois notched a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds to help the Worcester Polytechnic Institute women's basketball team to a 63-42 victory over Mount Holyoke College this afternoon in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action at the Mildred Howard Gymnasium. With the win, the Engineers avenged last season's league championship game loss versus Mount Holyoke.

Sophomore guard Lisa Marie Vuono tallied game-highs of 14 points and eight rebounds to boost the Smith College women's basketball team to a 63-48 victory over Mount Holyoke College this evening in NEWMAC action at Ainsworth Gymnasium. With the win, the Pioneers improved their season record to 4-12, including a 2-5 mark in league play. Mount Holyoke fell to 3-14 overall and 0-6 versus Conference opponents.

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology women's basketball team overcame a ten-point halftime deficit to defeat New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) foe Mount Holyoke College 59-49 this afternoon at the Rockwell Cage. It was the Engineers first league win of the 2007-08 campaign.

It was the Bears fifth straight win and first over the Lyons since the 2003-04 campaign.

With the win, the Pride bumped their record to 7-7 and improved to 2-1 in league play. The Lyons dropped to 3-11 overall and 0-3 versus NEWMAC foes.

With the win, the Lyons improved their overall record to 3-10. Emerson dropped to 6-8.

Junior Sarah Roderigue exploded for game-highs of 23 points and ten rebounds to power the Clark University women's basketball team to a 76-50 triumph over New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) foe Mount Holyoke College this afternoon at the Kneller Athletic Center. Roderigue was nearly unstoppable in the contest. The forward shot 7-of-16 from the floor, including 4-of-5 from three-point range. She also drained all five of her free-throw attempts. The Cougars improved to 5-7 overall and 1-1 in league play, while Mount Holyoke dropped to 2-10 overall and 0-2 in Conference.

Junior forward Krystin Hickey piled up game-highs of 23 points and ten rebounds to push the Wheaton College women's basketball team to a 67-48 victory over Mount Holyoke College this evening at the Mildred Howard Gymnasium. It was the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) opener for both squads. Wheaton trailed by four points at the half but outscored the hosts 46-23 after the break to seal things.

Sophomore forward Jess Olson amassed game-highs of 20 points and 16 rebounds to boost the Mount Holyoke College women's basketball team to a 58-47 victory over non-conference foe Western New England College this afternoon at the Alumni Healthful Living Center. The Lyons snapped a five-game slide behind Olson's seventh double-double of the season and 13th of her career. Mount Holyoke bumped its overall record to 2-8, while the Golden Bears dropped to 4-5.

Senior guard Lindsay DellaChiaie recorded game-highs of 21 points and ten rebounds to propel the Worcester State College women's basketball team to a 67-59 victory over non-conference foe Mount Holyoke College this afternoon at the Mildred Howard Gymnasium. The Lancers improved their season record to 2-6 with their second win in a row. Mount Holyoke's fifth straight loss dropped it to 1-8 on the year.

The Eastern Connecticut State University women's basketball team shot 55.5% (33-60) from the field and drained 11 three-pointers en route to a convincing 83-59 triumph over Mount Holyoke College this evening in non-conference action at the Mildred Howard Gymnasium. With the win, the Warriors ran their season-opening winning streak to seven straight. The Lyons dropped to 1-7 with their fourth loss in a row.

The Roger Williams University women's basketball team overcame a 16-point halftime deficit to earn a 69-64 victory over non-conference foe Mount Holyoke College this afternoon in its home opener. Four players reached double digits in the scoring column for the Hawks (1-2), who drilled ten three-pointers. It was their second win of the 2007-08 campaign. The Lyons dropped to 1-5 on the year.

Senior forward Stephanie Reiff tallied a game-high 16 points to boost the Amherst College women's basketball team to an 80-40 victory over non-conference foe Mount Holyoke College this evening at the Mildred Howard Gymnasium. With the win, the Lord Jeffs improved to a perfect 3-0. The Lyons fell to 0-3.

For the second day in a row, the Mount Holyoke College women's basketball team suffered a setback at the Brandeis Tip-Off Tournament. Today, the Lyons fell to Wesleyan University by a score of 73-37 in the competition's consolation game at Auerbach Arena. Kenyon College knocked off the host Judges 67-62 in the Championship tilt.

The Mount Holyoke College basketball team will kick off its 2007-08 slate this weekend at the Brandeis College Tip-Off Tournament. Last year, the Lyons captured the NEWMAC Tournament Championship and advanced to the NCAA National Tournament for the first time in program history.
