Our last week of regular season was an amazing one. On Tuesday, we faced off against our long-time rivals, the Smith College Pioneers. We went in ready to fight and win but faced some set-backs. The weather was cold and rainy, and we were playing on a grass field that was more like a mud pit. It was an exciting game that had us on the edge our or seats the entire time. There was no guaranteed winner, with neither of the teams having a substantial lead, but the Lyons fought and came out with an AMAZING victory. Our senior captain, Ava, scored the game winner in the last 22 seconds of the game! This was the first time I have ever beaten Smith, and I am so happy it was with this team and that we could come out with a win for our seniors.
After celebrating, we geared up for a week of practice and got ready for our Senior Game on Friday. We played under the lights on our turf in beautiful weather against a team we have never played before, Anna Maria College. It was a great win for the Lyons and was a great night to honor our seniors. After the game, we celebrated with cake and gifts for the seniors while also having fun with a piñata. We are sad to see them go but so happy to have been able to play with them this season.
